History
On January 15, 1952 the Swiss company ORNAPRESS AG and the Union-Pressstoffwerk, Paul Roediger, in Ratingen near Düsseldorf, signed a licence agreement for the ornamin process. Decorative Melamine foils were to be delivered from Switzerland to the Union-Pressstoffwerk for use in durable decorations of compression moulded parts. But there were problems in realizing this plan, due to the fact that foreign currency was still being rationed in Germany and import licences were difficult to obtain.

Thus, on December 12, 1952 the ornamin-Fabrikation für Kunststoffverzierungen GmbH was founded in Düsseldorf.

In January 1955 production moved to the Kuckuckstrasse in Minden. At first, the development of the company was sluggish, even in Minden. In 1966 the company picked up speed with the introduction of thermoplastic decorative films (in-mould label) under the management of Johannes Hannemann.

The decisive breakthrough came in 1972/1973. On the international market, ornamin was one of the first companies worldwide to produce decorative films for the plastics industry. Due to this expansion, the premises at Kuckuckstrasse were soon too small. The company bought an industrial site at Trippeldamm in 1979 and built a modern production plant. From then on, a new branch of production under the company logo ODF-Druck supplemented the range of products.

Rapid growth led to the need for additional industrial sites in 1985 and 1995. After more than 50 years of manufacturing these special foils the company is still growing.
