“Ornamin production of plastic
decorations GmbH” was founded December 12th, 1952 in Düsseldorf as
licensee of the Ornamin procedure for the decoration of melamine
products. Apart from us, other companies in the world received licenses
as well – some of them as manufacturers of melamine items and others –
like us – as manufacturers of decorative foils.
In January 1955 our production moved to Minden. Starting from 1966, as a result of the production of thermoplastic in-mould labels, our company experienced a substantial growth. But the main breakthrough was made during the years 1972/1973. Ornamin was one of the first companies in the world who successfully produced in-mould-labels for the plastics industry.
In 1979 Ornamin acquired an industrial area at their current site and built up an even more modern production there. From that time on, a new branch of production with plastic and paper items called “ODF-Printing” complemented the product range.
The rapid growth required further production sites which were created in 1985 and 1995. Today, after more than half a century in producing special labels, our company continues to grow.
You can find our in-mould-labels in products from the most different countries – from Europe to the Middle East, from the U.S. to South Africa, from Columbia to Hongkong.
